Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Europe: Wales: Lake Llyn Tegid (Lake Bala).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Lacustrine, in open water. Spawns in January to February in shallow bays on stones and gravel. Feeds on crustaceans and insects (Ref. 59043). Status of threat: Threatened by degradation of water quality and introduction of Gymnocephalus cernua, which preys on egg and larvae. A second population is being established in Llyn Arenig (Ref. 59043).
