Family:  Congridae (Conger and garden eels), subfamily: Congrinae
Max. size:  160 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 120 - 400 m
Distribution:  Western Central Atlantic: Cuba and Jamaica (Ref. 3715); probably throughout northern South America (Ref. 5217). Cosmopolitan in tropical and subtropical waters.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  A benthic species (Ref. 26340) found in rocky areas or coral reefs (Ref. 5217). Feeds on fishes. Marketed fresh and salted.
