Distribution: | Western Indian Ocean: Apparently restricted to the western coast of India from Cochin north at least to the Malabar area. Records from Sri Lanka may be a different species. | |||
Diagnosis: | Dorsal spines (total): 3-3; Dorsal soft rays (total): 20-20; Anal soft rays: 16-16. This species is distinguished by having 2 or more tentacles above the eye (Ref. 89101). | |||
Biology: | Prefers muddy bottoms (Ref. 68964). Caught by handlines and bottom trawls. Sold mostly fresh in markets. | |||
