Family:  Macrouridae (Grenadiers or rattails)
Max. size:  43 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 300 - 550 m, non-migratory
Distribution:  Northwest Pacific: southern Japan and Taiwan (Ref. 5193).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Anal spines: 0-0. Body tapering posteriorly from the origin of the first dorsal fin. Snout moderately long and pointed. Body covered with scales with narrowly lanceolate to triangular spinules. Pyloric caeca 21 to 30. Body is grayish, fins dusky to black. Mouth cavity grayish; gill cavity blackish.
