Max. size:  12 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; brackish; marine
Distribution:  Southeast Atlantic: False Bay to Skoenmakerskop in South Africa.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 33-36; Dorsal soft rays (total): 5-6; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 22-25. Reddish orange or yellow in color, with about 7 broad darker crossbars; 2 lines from eye to cheek; dark ocellus on shoulder; fins with faint mottlings (Ref. 5496).
Biology:  Occurs in weedy areas.
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 03 May 2010 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
