Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 180 - 2000 m
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: Florida, off the the Greater Antilles, Barbados, and off Belize to Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 90-96; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 70-76
Biology:  Visually orienting ambush predator (Ref. 53012).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 01 February 2013 Ref. (124695)
Threat to humans:  harmless
