Family:  Leuciscidae (Minnows), subfamily: Leuciscinae
Max. size:  29.4 cm TL (male/unsexed); max. reported age: 8 years
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Europe: Neretva drainage in Croatia and Bosnia Herzegovina.
Diagnosis:  Diagnosed from its congeners in Western Balkans and Adriatic basin by having the following characters: scales on lateral line 50-59; mouth arched and lower lip with thin cornified sheath; ½ 7-8/1/5 scales in transverse row between dorsal-fin and pelvic-fin origins; dorsal fin with 8-9½ branched rays; and 19-24 gill rakers (Ref. 59043).
Biology:  Inhabits streams with clear water and lakes (Ref. 59043). Occurs in water bodies on low plains, with little current. Threatened by habitat destruction (Ref. 26100).
