Max. size:  4.56 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: Brazil.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 2-2; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-8; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 5-5. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: 20 or 22 dorsal procurrent caudal-fin rays; 30-32 interopercular odontodes; 26-28 premaxillary teeth; 27-32 dentary teeth; medial margin of the autopalatine slightly sinuous; sesamoid supraorbital lacking a lateral projection; anterior portion of the mesethmoid just posterior to cornu base relatively broad; dorsal process of the opercle stick-shaped; anterior portion of the preopercle not distinctively elongated; parurohyal foramen rudimentary; and posterior process of the parurohyal long, its length about three quarters of lateral process length (Ref 138050).
Biology:  This species inhabits moderate flowing streams 50 cm deep and about 2 m wide, with a substrate composed of pebbles and sand (Ref. 138050).
