Max. size:  30 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 300 - 1800 m, non-migratory
Distribution:  Eastern Pacific: Point Conception in California, USA to Panama. Reported from Chile (Ref. 9068).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs at a minimum depth of 500 m upon reaching 5 cm in length (Ref. 54657; 82347). Feeds mainly on crustaceans (Ref. 4525).

Threat to humans:  harmless
