Family:  Labridae (Wrasses), subfamily: Bodianinae
Max. size:  17.9 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 7 - 30 m
Distribution:  Eastern Central Pacific: Fanning Atoll, Line Islands.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 12-13; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-11. Snout long and pointed. Posterior corner of mouth anterior to forward margin of orbit by about 1/2 eye diameter (Ref. 9823).
Biology:  Found around folios corals and rarely swims out in the open. Adults found between 7 and 20 m, while juveniles were seen only below 30 m depth (Ref. 13850). Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205).
