Family:  Apogonidae (Cardinalfishes), subfamily: Apogoninae
Max. size:  14 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 0 - 37 m
Distribution:  Indo-Pacific.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-9; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Description: Characterized by uniformly bright red body color; dusky brownish scale margins; greatest depth of body 2.8-3.1 in SL (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  Common in caves and under ledges. Solitary and seldom seen, hides under crevices during day (Ref 90102).
