Family:  Apogonidae (Cardinalfishes), subfamily: Apogoninae
Max. size:  13 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 9 - 18 m
Distribution:  Eastern Pacific: San Clemente Island in southern California, USA to Gulf of California in Mexico and offshore islands.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits rocky crevices and caves at depths to 18 m or more during the day, but moves off the bottom and out into open areas at night. Feeds mainly on planktonic crustaceans and small fishes (Ref. 4930).
