Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 5.80000019073486 - 7.5; dH range: 8 - 20
Distribution:  South America: Orinoco, Araguaia and Amazon River basins; coastal rivers of Guianas.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Adults occur in fast-flowing parts of rivers. Omnivorous, feed on aquatic plants and insects. Spawn on the vegetation and on the bottom (Ref. 12225).
