Max. size:  20 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Myanmar (Ref. 4832). Reported from Afghanistan (Ref. 39701).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Adults are found in ponds, canals, beels, slow-moving streams, nullahs and paddy fields (Ref. 41236). Development of oocytes is asynchronous, are fractional spawners (Ref. 94282).
