Remarks 'Truite' from Old French 'troite' from Low Latin 'tructa' from Greek 'troktes', i.e., voracious (p. 771 in Ref. 9404); 'mouchetée', i.e., literally with flies refering to the small dark spots on the trout's body, from 'mouche' from Latin 'musca', i.e., fly (p. 478 in Ref. 9404).
