Short description Morphology | Morphometrics

Dorsal soft rays (total): 11; Anal soft rays: 8. Reduced # of slightly divergent parallel streaks on scales, small mouth, lower lip covered by thin layer of `horn', transverse lobe in front of mouth notched in the middle, covers the upper lip. Dorsal without ossified ray but with 8 branched rays. This genus present intermediate characters between Labeo and Barbus. Brownish dorsal part and lighter bottom part. Dark lateral band, wide from opercle to extremity of caudal peduncle. Base of caudal and dorsal yellow-orange.
