Etymology: Notolabrus: Greek, noton = back + Greek, labros = voracious (Ref. 45335);  fucicola: Specific epithet from Latin 'fucus' meaning a seaweed, 'cola' meaning dweller, referring to the seaweed-dwelling habit of this fish.
