Etymology: Lasiognathus: Greek, 'lasios' = hairy or wooly + Greek, 'gnathos' = jaw (with reference to the huge number of long teeth of the upper jaw) ( Ref. 86949).; dinema: 'dinema'(Greek), i.e., 'di', means two; and 'nema', means thread; refers to two elongate, with thread-like prolongations emerging anteriorly from the bases of the escal hooks of this species (Ref. 102638).
