Head relatively short (usually < 21% TL). Mouth broad, subequal to eye length. Eyes narrow; upper eyelid without pale naked patch. First dorsal fin well behind rear tip of pectoral fin. Caudal peduncle short (ca 1.6-2 times greatest horizontal length of D1 including spine, <1/6 of TL). Denticles minute, bristle-like, mostly randomly arranged. Flank-marking with posterior branch truncate; anterior part of caudal base marking not extended anteriorly; central caudal marking absent. Monospondylous centra 40-43 (Ref. 45056).
Ovoviviparous (Ref. 205).
