Short description Morphology | Morphometrics

Dorsal spines (total): 0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-10; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 16 - 17. Diagnosis: Deep-bodied ‘Lampeye’ species with strong lateral compression and more or less truncated fins; dorsal fin with 9-10 rays, anal fin with 16-17 rays; scales on mid-lateral series 26-28 (Ref. 57259). Colouration: Male colouration: body colour is pale yellow-olive, with a light blue iridescence on the sides which is strongest between the insert of the pectoral fins and the dorsal fin; all scales of the back and sides have distinct dark brown to black borders, producing a well defined reticulated pattern; all unpaired fins are yellow to pale orange or pink (Ref. 57259). Female colouration: translucent pale grey, the back being darker and the ventral region being silver; lacks the light blue iridescence present on the sides of the male; all unpaired fins are colourless (Ref. 57259). Both sexes show a bright blue reflection in the upper part of the iris (Ref. 57259).
