Diagnosis: small, elongate species, about 6 times as long as deep; occipital process scarcely developed and distinctly separated from nuchal plates; humeral spine well visible; eyes very small, round and in dorsal position; dorsal-fin base comprised 4-5 times in standard length and shorter than adipose-fin base; 8-10 branched anal-fin rays; 5-7 gill rakers on lower limb of first gill arch; colour pattern spotted; fin-ray counts: dorsal 13 or 14 (branched), pectorals 7 or 8 (branched), anal 3-5 simple and 8 or 10 branched; number of gill rakers on first gill arch: 3 or 4/5-7.
