Etymology: Pseudosimochromis: Greek, pseudes = false + Latin, simo = to crash th nose + Greek, chromis = a fish, perhaps a perch.

Africa: endemic to Lake Tanganyika, but only known from the Kigoma area in Tanzania (Ref. 6770, 46829, 49183).

Biology     Glossary (e.g. epibenthic)

Occurs in vegetated areas near the rocks and stones in the littoral region of the lake; area of collection was strewn with harbour debris, and was heavily vegetated with macrophytes and algae-covered rocks; collected at 2-6m depth (Ref. 49183). Inhabits shallow sediment-rich habitats (Ref. 46829). Feeds on algae which is picked from the rocks (Ref. 46829).
