Indo-Pacific: Red Sea to South Africa, Oman, Arabian Sea, Australia, Japan, Taiwan and the Philippines. Reported from Malaysia (Ref. 5756) and Indonesia (Ref. 5978).
Inhabits deep rocky reefs (Ref. 9710, 11230).
