Etymology: Rivulus: Latin, rivus = stream (Ref. 45335); ribesrubrum: Derived from new Latin ribes, meaning currant or gooseberry, and from Latin rubrum, meaning red, in reference to the unique currant- red spotted markings on body and fins.
