Etymology: Trisopterus: Greek, tris = thrice + Greek, pteron = wing, fin (Ref. 45335).
Issue
Previously in synonymy with Trisopterus minutus (Linnaeus, 1758). Delling et al. (2011: Ref. 90172) recognize the species as valid both on molecular and morphological data.
