Etymology: Bedotia: After Maurice Bedot, 1859-1927; born in Geneva, systematist on Hydrozoan; leucopteron: Derived from the Greek 'leukos' (white) and 'pteron' (fin), in reference to the iridescent white fin coloration particularly evident in adult males.
