Vertebrae: 25. This species is distinguished by D XII, 9; vertebrae 25; presence of tympanic spines; well-developed upper-jaw lip, covering most of premaxillary band laterally; scales on lateral surface of maxilla absent; longitudinal scale rows about 59-60; second pelvic fin ray the longest; deeply notched pectoral fin, length of 11th ray 65% of that of 17th ray; deep body, its depth 37-39% SL; large orbit diameter, 14-15%SL; slightly convex head profile; no swimbladder; color reddish with white and black markings and smudges on portions of head, dorsal surface of flanks and fins (Ref. 75873).
Observed to inhabit boulder and sediment-laden bottoms, sitting along 30°-45° slopes (Ref. 75873).
