Etymology: Pseudecheneis: Greek, pseudes = false + Greek, echein = to hold + Greek, nays = ship; remora, suckling fish; 1774 (Ref. 45335);  suppaetula: From the Latin adjective suppaetulus, meaning squinting somewhat, in allusion to the small eye of this species.
