Etymology: Zoarces: Greek, zoarkes, -es = that gives life (Ref. 45335);  andriashevi: Named after Anatolii Petrovich Andriyashev, leading specialist in systematics and fauna of cold water fish of the norther and southern hemisphere (Ref. 57828).

Dorsal spines (total): 12 - 15; Dorsal soft rays (total): 120-126; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 100 - 105; Vertebrae: 115 - 122. Vertebrae 115-122; dorsal fin rays 120-126 (D + 1/2 C); anal fin rays 100-105 (A + 1/2 C), with a black spot in the anterior part of the dorsal fin; narrow interorbital gap; relatively large eyes; elongated paired fins (Ref. 57828).
