Etymology: Odontostilbe: Greek, odous = teeth + Greek, stilbe, es = lamp (Ref. 45335); parecis: Named for the Chapada dos Parecis, a plateau located on the east of Guaporé tributaries where the species was discovered.

Found in translucent water of quiet to medium flow, sandy bottom with pebbles and a depth of 1-1.2 m (Ref. 57085).
