Etymology: Mylochromis: Greek, mylo = mill + Greek, chromis = a fish without identification, perhaps a perch (Ref. 45335); ensatus: Specific epithet is the Latin adjective ensatus, meaning shaped like a two-edged sword and refers to the characteristic shallow, straight, elongate body form and the acutely pointed head of this species (Ref. 41276).
