Dorsal spines (total): 4; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9; Anal spines: 3; Anal soft rays: 9. Greenish grey dorsally, soon shading to silvery on sides and ventrally; golden iridescence often present dorsally on head; posterior edge of caudal fin narrowly blackish (Ref. 11441).

Oviparous, eggs are pelagic and non-adhesive (Ref. 205).
