Black Sea: southeast Crimea to Batum.
Endemic to Black and Caspian Seas. Restricted to brackish water habitats (Ref. 92840). Occurs inshore, among boulders, rocks, stones and Cystoseira (Ref. 4696) but is also known to live over gravelly bottoms offshore, away from inlets (Ref. 2058).
