Etymology: Gadiculus: Latin, gadus = a fish, cod? (Ref. 45335).
Issue
Previously as a subspecies of Gadiculus argenteus Guichenot, 1850. Synonym of the latter in Eschmeyer (CofF ver. Oct. 2012: Ref. 92135) followimg (Mercader & Vinyoles, 2008).
