Ecology
Freshwater; demersal; pH range: 6.5 - 7.2; dH range: 10 - 20; potamodromous (Ref. 51243). Tropical; 22°C - 25°C (Ref. 2060)
Size / Weight / Age

Vertebrae: 43. Distinguished from all other Mystus (indeed, from all other Asian Bagridae except Bagrichthys hypselopterus) by its extraordinary high dorsal fin, involving great elongation of the non-serrate dorsal fin spine and first three or four soft rays. Within Mystus sensu stricto, mouth relatively narrow (Ref. 10418).
Asia: Chao Phraya and Mekong basins. Rare throughout its range (Ref. 10418). Reported from Maeklong River (Ref. 26336).
Occur in medium to large-sized rivers (Ref. 12975). Adults feed on crustaceans and benthic invertebrates. Oviparous, distinct pairing possibly like other members of the same family (Ref. 205). Usually marketed fresh (Ref. 12693).
