Short description Morphology | Morphometrics

Dorsal spines (total): 2; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7; Anal soft rays: 10; Vertebrae: 43. Distinguished from all other Mystus (indeed, from all other Asian Bagridae except Bagrichthys hypselopterus) by its extraordinary high dorsal fin, involving great elongation of the non-serrate dorsal fin spine and first three or four soft rays. Within Mystus sensu stricto, mouth relatively narrow (Ref. 10418).

Asia: Chao Phraya and Mekong basins. Rare throughout its range (Ref. 10418). Reported from Maeklong River (Ref. 26336).

Biology     Glossary (e.g. epibenthic)

Occur in medium to large-sized rivers (Ref. 12975). Adults feed on crustaceans and benthic invertebrates. Oviparous, distinct pairing possibly like other members of the same family (Ref. 205). Usually marketed fresh (Ref. 12693).

Estimates of some properties based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82805):  PD50 = 0.5000   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00575 (0.00243 - 0.01363), b=3.10 (2.89 - 3.31), based on LWR estimates for this (Sub)Family-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trophic Level (Ref. 69278):  3.5   ±0.44 se; Based on food items.
Resilience (Ref. 69278):  Medium, minimum population doubling time 1.4 - 4.4 years (Assuming Fec < 10,000).
Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (19 of 100) .
Price category (Ref. 80766):   Unknown.
