Remarks Males with a conical urogenital papilla immediately posterior to the anus opening, a fleshy flap along the dorsal margin of the pelvic-fin spine, longer pelvic-fin spine 15.8-20.3% SL (vs.14.4-16.4% SL in females), a shorter internareal distance 9.4-10.9 (vs. 11.3-12.9% HL in females), wider nares diameter 13-15.6 (vs. 10.9-12.1% HL in females). and shorter prenasal length 15.2-20.0 (vs. 20.1-24.2% HL in females).

Distinguished from all congeners by having the following characters: 19-31 premaxillary teeth

(vs. 10-20); 18-27 dentary teeth (vs. 11-19); caudal peduncle depth 6.2-7.6% (vs. 7.6-11.5% SL); dorsal-fin spinelet rectangular in shape (vs. triangular or quadrangular); suture in the posteromesial portion of the paired basipterygium long- same size of the basipterygium medial cartilage (vs. suture smaller-one to two third of the basipterygium medial cartilage) (Ref. 93039).
