Presence of a small dark ocellus at the rear part of the dorsal fin, even visible in subadults; dark cross bars 13-19; absence of cross bars on caudal fin; a narrow black margin on the dorsal fin; females almost without spots on the sides; 75 diagnostic molecular synapomorphic characters in the mitochondrial gene regions investigated (Ref. 52509). Remarks: Scales on mid-longitudinal series 25-28 + 2-3 on caudal fin base (Ref. 52509).
