Found in the Iberian Peninsula (Ref. 119049). Occurs along Mediterranean coast from 30 known localities (now extirpated in 14 of them) (Ref. 59043). Recorded from Albuixec marshes (Ref. 52361). Threatened due to habitat destruction, pollution, and introductions of exotic competitors (Ref. 79582). Has disappeared from freshwaters and survived only in the saline or hypersaline zones (Ref. 59043). Also Ref. 32724, 116787.

Status of threat: Endangered (Ref. 79582, 119049).
