Comments: Outside distributional range. Previous report from off the western Cape and Natal (Ref. 6577, 5578) refer to Etmopterus brachyurus. A recent publication by Compagno, 1998 (Ref. 31367) also noted that southern African records may be based on other species (Ref. 31367).
