Trophic Analysis of Catch Data
This tool allows you to upload catch data, get trophic levels for the respective species items from FishBase, and perform either a 'before-after' analysis with a trophic pyramid or a mean trophic level analysis. Catch data have to be imported in the format shown in the examples below. You can 'cut & paste' data directly from spreadsheets. Species item names have to match those used by FAO (ISSCAAP or ASFIS names). You can download a list of these names together with trophic level and maximum standard length for your guidance. Click here if you want to analyze FAO catch data.
Input Format:
Tab-separated data is required. It is best to use data from a spreadsheet (e.g. Excel). Below are sample Excel files, right-click on the link and choose 'Save target as' to get the file. Just copy data from spreadsheet and paste it in the text area below.
FAO Catches: Asia - Inland waters (04)
FAO Catches: Pacific, Southeast (87)
Please be patient because running the analysis may take 3-5 minutes depending on the amount of data.
Early years: - (e.g. 1950-1970)
Later years: - (e.g. 1971-2004)
Note: You can download this Species-List file as guide, remove the un-needed rows/species and just fill in the catches. See sample files above for correct format. SpeciesList.xls
