Espinas dorsales (total): 7; Radios blandos dorsales (total): 11; Espinas anales 1; Radios blandos anales: 13. Yellowish in color, with white saddles and faint brown spots above; anal fin with dusky tips; chin black (Ref. 2798).

Sand-dweller, occurs in areas where freshwater streams ran dead in beach sand (Ref. 4343). Generally found with Kraemeria samoensis Steindachner, 1906. Rarely in brackish water (Ref. 559).
