Enlarged suborbital bones occupying most of cheek; each caudal lobe with a dark stripe; longitudinal stripe across dorsal (Ref. 43281).

Found mainly in medium to large-sized rivers (Ref. 12975). Feeds on algae (Ref. 12975), fish and crustaceans (Ref. 56749).
