Distinguished from other congeners by the combination of the following characters: caudal vertebrae 12; absence of mark on side of head; dorsal-fin spines 16; dorsal-fin rays 10-11; anal-fin rays 9-10; pectoral-fin rays 14-15; scales on upper lateral line row 15-17; rib pairs 11; 13-14 proximal radials on anal-fin base; caudal-peduncle length 10.2-11.9% SL; snout not robust; absence of depression on head; wide ectopterygoid; arm of epibranchial 1long; arms of epibranchial 2 with two short tubular processes; pre-orbital depth 60.5-65.3% HL; and arms of vertical trunk bar 7 with the same width (Ref. 79631).
