Biology
    Glossary (e.g. epibenthic)
Inhabits the middle and lower reaches of rivers (Ref. 30578). Feeds on invertebrates and plants. Brackish water populations enter lower reaches of rivers for spawning in May - July (Ref. 556). Spawning occurs upstream over gravel (Ref. 30578). Is threatened from its range due to water obstruction (Ref. 26100).
