Short description Morfologia | Morfometria

Spine dorsali (totale): 13 - 15; Raggi dorsali molli (totale): 6-7; Spine anali 13; Raggi anali molli: 9 - 10. Differs from its congeners, except Paroshphromenus linkei and P. pahuensis in having 14-15 dorsal- fin spines. Distinguished from both species in the absence of 1-3 conspicuous black blotches on the middle of the lower lateral stripe, by the presence of a black subdistal band in the dorsal, anal and caudal fins of the male (live and preserved) and the absence of hyaline spots on the same fins. Further differs from P. linkei in possessing a rounded caudal fin. Can also be differentiated from all congeners by the color pattern of the unpaired fins of the female (grey with numerous hyaline spots vs. plain grey or hyaline) (Ref. 56232).
