Short description
Dorsal spines (total): 13; Dorsal soft rays (total): 13 - 15; Anal spines: 2; Anal soft rays: 14 - 15. Adults dusky to almost black. Eye with yellow iris and black spot on pectoral fin base (Ref. 48636).

    Glossary (e.g. epibenthic)
Found in passages and outer reef slopes (Ref. 7247); also in current prone and clear water reef flats to 40 m depth (Ref. 48636). Occurs singly or in small groups (Ref. 37816). Feeds on zooplankton and benthic algae (Ref. 7247).
