Europe: Austria to Kazakhstan. Stocks reduced, conservation measures in force (Ref. 4537). Widely spread in the river systems of the Black, Caspian and Aral seas (Ref. 33550). Black Sea basin: Bulgaria (Veleka drainages), Turkey (Resowska drainages) (Ref. 59043). In Appendix III of the Bern Convention (protected fauna).
