Africa: only known from the Kakrima River and in the middle reaches of the Konkouré River in Guinea (Ref. 2940, 81282).

Dorsal soft rays (total): 11; Anal soft rays: 15 - 16. Diagnosis: body depth 4.3x and head length 3.6x SL; eye diameter 3.4-4.0x head length; scale formula 6.5-7.5/36-38/4.5-5.5; 6.5-7.5 scales between lateral line and dorsal fin origin; 36-38 scales in longitudinal series; 8 dorsal-fin branched rays; 12-13 anal-fin branched rays; known only from the Konkouré basin (Ref. 2940, 81282).
Body shape (shape guide): elongated; Cross section: compressed.
Affinities: superficially resembles R. nigeriensis (less bars, more scales).
