Short description
Dorsal soft rays (total): 13 - 14; Anal soft rays: 9 - 10. Short body. Round snout. Eyes dorsolateral, interorbital space small 11.4-16.1% head length. Head length 22.8-25.9% SL. 10-12.5 scales between posterior end of adipose and caudal fin base. 7-11 transverse bands on back. 4-7 individual blotches along lateral line. 7-8 scales between anus and anal fin origin. Fins not colored. Small dark blotch on anterior upper part of dorsal fin. Often dark blotch on base of each caudal fin lobe (Ref. 2936). Population in Niger Delta with reduced number of scales on lateral line (45-47) .
