Short description

Dorsal spines (total): 10; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11; Anal spines: 3; Anal soft rays: 7. Body high and well-compressed. Third dorsal spine and 2nd anal spine specially long and strong. Body uniformly grayish brown and soft dorsal fin with 1 black blotch. Vertical fins margined white. Attains 20 cm SL.

Occurs inshore (Ref. 7300, 11230).
